Prolia is a prescription medicine used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk for fractures, particularly those who cannot use or have not responded well to other osteoporosis medications. It is also indicated for increasing bone mass in men with osteoporosis at high fracture risk and for both men and women who will be taking corticosteroids (such as prednisone) for at least six months and are at high risk for fractures. Additionally, Prolia is used to treat bone loss in men and women at high risk for fractures receiving certain treatments for prostate or breast cancer that has not spread to other parts of the body.
